Mrs. Velinda Reyes

Velinda Reyes has served on the San Isidro ISD Board of Trustees since November 2012, holding positions of President and Vice President. Between 2015 – 2018, Velinda served in various leadership positions within the Region One School Board Association (ROSBA). During varying legislative sessions, Velinda has served Region One as a Legislative Advisory Council (LAC) Member. She has served as an evaluator for the Region One Superintendent of the Year committee on numerous occasions. Velinda is a graduate of the Leadership TASB program class of 2017 and earned the Master Trustee distinction.
Velinda is currently the Chief Administrator for External Affairs for Hidalgo County Precinct 4, providing highly advanced, strategic and tactical direction and support to the County Commissioner. Velinda serves in various county and regional committees. Prior to her current employment, Velinda served as the Assistant Vice President for Community Relations at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and served in varying roles during her twenty years of service.
Velinda is a public servant at heart and serves the communities of Starr and Hidalgo County. Velinda was recently recognized with a Regional Award by the Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council for her collaboration and dedication to the Rio Grande Valley.
Reyes earned a master’s degree from the University of North Texas and a bachelor’s degree from The University of Texas Pan-American.
