Medina Electric Cooperative Scholarship

We at Medina EC are very excited that you are planning to continue your education! We hope that by offering this
scholarship to Medina EC members and their children in accomplishing those educational goals can become a reality.
Below is information about the scholarship program and an application has been attached. Please review all the material.

Three scholarships in each of the three voting districts are available. In each voting district two 2008 graduates and one adult
wishing to continue their education will be awarded a $2,500 scholarship. The information will be subject to confirmation that
the following requirements have been met.

1. Application must be accurate, filled out completely, and received by 5 p.m., Friday, February 8, 2008, in the General
Office in Hondo, TX.
2. If the membership is held by a non-natural person or entity, only the designated voter or his/her dependents are
eligible.
3. Parent, guardian, or applicant must be a member in good standing with the cooperative. Good standing is defined as “a
member that has paid all bills to the cooperative for which service he/she is legally responsible or liable for the most
recent 12 consecutive billings without having been issued more than three (3) termination notices or issued a disconnect
order.”
4. Applicant must plan to attend a recognized Texas institution of higher education pursuing a certification, an associate
degree, or an undergraduate degree.
5. Applicant applying for the High School Senior Scholarship (including home schooled and GED graduates) must meet
the requirements of items 1, 2, 3, and 4 above and the following:
a. Must be less than 21 years of age on application deadline date, and
b. Must enroll in recognized Texas institution of higher education within twelve (12) months after graduation.
6. Applicants applying for the Adult Scholarship must meet the requirements of items 1, 2, 3, and 4 above and must be
less than 64 years of age on application deadline date.
7. First installment of scholarship must be made within 12 months of graduation and not to exceed four years.
8. Previous scholarship recipients are not eligilbe to reapply.
To be complete, this application must be accompanied by:
• The complete scholarship application;
• An official transcript from the school the applicant has most recently attended;
• Three letters of recommendation; and
• An essay based on the guidelines provided on the attached sheet of paper.

Application packet must be received by 5 p.m., Friday, February 8, 2008, in the General Office in Hondo, TX.
